Operations - Oil Palm Nursery
Palm seeds ordered from ASD Costa Rica in December/ January. Pre-germinated palm seeds arrive in June.Pre-nursery: Preparation of Pre-Nursery site begins in March/April - shade netting of the greenhouse and filling of polythene pots. Planting seeds is done in June and growing them in temperature controlled net houses.Main Nursery: 4-5 months, the seedlings are transferred to an open field (main nursery) for another 18 - 20 months, until final transplantation to an open field (Plantation).
Main-Nursery
Main nursery capacity: 204,000 seedlings, culling % of 25-30%.Seedling remain in the Main Nursery for 25 months before transplanting into the plantation.
Pre-Nursery
Pre-nursery Capacity: 120,000 seedlings, culling % of 10-15%.
