What is FFB?
FFB stands for Fresh Fruit Bunches, which are harvested directly from oil palm trees. They are the primary raw material used to produce Crude Palm Oil (CPO) at our mill.
How is palm oil produced?
The production process begins with harvesting FFB, which are then sterilized to loosen the fruits from the bunch. Fruits are separated, pressed, and clarified to extract Crude Palm Oil. Kernels and other by-products are processed for feed, fuel, or fertilizer
What are the main by-products of palm oil processing?
Key by-products include:
- Palm Kernel Cake: High-protein livestock feed.
- Fibre: Used as renewable energy for the mill
- Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB): Organic mulch or compost
- Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME): Treated as natural fertilizer
Can local farmers join Zampalm’s outgrower program?

Our plantation is located in Muchinga Province, Zambia, with 3,864 hectares under cultivation and an additional 1,100 hectares for outgrowers
